Blue Door Ceremonies

Historically, ceremonies and rituals served as important opportunities for honoring the milestones of life. These sacred events were designed to pay tribute to significant times of growth and change. As such, they marked important points of transition from one stage of life to the next. Weddings, funerals, and religious rituals remain; however, many other ceremonies have been lost to the rigorous demands of contemporary life. Seldom do we stop to honor or even consider, the many beginnings and endings that punctuate life.

Blue Door Ceremonies strives to address this through the creation of rituals and ceremonies that consciously and deliberately acknowledge change. Through ceremony, one is guided across the threshold of change and into the realm of new possibilities.

Why Blue Door?

A door, like a threshold is a gateway marking one's passage from one place or state to another. It is a place of new beginnings; the starting point of experience.

services_clip_image002_0000.jpg Blue is the colour of the spirit. It symbolizes the realm of wisdom, self-mastery, and spiritual realization. Represented by the throat chakra, it signifies clear speech and the ability to speak one's truth. When focused inward, it leads to personal reflection, insights, and deep understandings. This is the focus of my work as both a Transformational Coach and a Certified Life-Cycle® Celebrant. This is my commitment:

  • To craft and speak the truth of your story in celebration
  • To guide you through the self-reflective process as you walk the path of healing and transition
  • To bear witness to your passage across the threshold of change

As a Certified Life-Cycle® Celebrant and Transformational Coach, I honour your needs, beliefs, values, and passions as we work together to create a healing experience uniquely designed for you and your journey.

Types of Ceremonies

Blue Door Ceremonies works with ritual and ceremony in the following ways:

  • Rituals may be used in coaching/healing work as a means of facilitating the integration of new understandings and desired ways of being.
This may include: Releasing, cleansing and grounding rituals; smudging; meditation; prayer; use of mantras, a talisman, movement, writing, art and more.
  • Ceremonies for women, that address the second half of life (the wisdom years), are the focus of ceremonial practice. (Tags: Wisdom, Crone)

Background

The mid-life period is the starting point for the second half of life. It has long been overlooked and minimized for the important stage that it represents in the life cycle. This is most noteworthy for women who, despite ongoing vitality, often experience a shift in how they are seen, valued, and treated. As a Certified Life-Cycle® Celebrant, I honour this period of life. It is a time of harvesting the wisdom borne of a lifetime of experiences, where mistakes and successes form an archive of lessons to be savored and shared with others. The value in this cannot be understated.

To achieve this, ceremony creation is guided by the seminal work of Angeles Arrien, The second half of life: Opening the eight gates of wisdom. This acts as a powerful template for exploring the gifts and the challenges of aging, while guiding women through the process of reclaiming their precious Wisdom/Crone years.

A note about the term Crone:
Historically, women who were Crones were considered the embodiment of feminine wisdom and as such, they held great influence and were highly revered. They, along with their younger counterparts (Maiden and Mother) are part of a trilogy of female archetypes depicted in many ancient mythologies and texts. Each represent a stage in the lifespan of women; as such, each holds great merit and value to be understood, explored, and embodied. Use of the term Crone is optional for such ceremonies.

Other ceremony options may be available upon request.

Is ceremony right for you?

  • Consider, do you feel adrift as an aging woman? Do you yearn for a deeper connection with yourself? Do you yearn for a sense of purpose and meaning? Do you feel a desire to share what you have learned with others?
  • How do you mark the major transitions in your life? Do they slip by unnoticed or are they acknowledged and celebrated as important times of growth?
  • Are the difficult times honoured to the same degree as the happy times of your life?
  • How do you remember and learn from the experiences that you live? How might ritual enhance your life?
  • Do you have an important healing event that you would like to acknowledge but don’t know how to begin?

If you resonate with any of these questions the services of Blue Door Ceremonies may help you to connect more deeply with the milestone moments of your life.
